Does insurance cover surgery for a deviated septum?

I was told by an ENT today that I have a slightly deviated septum. I want to ask about surgery because not only have I had a chronic sinus infection, but my nose is kinda crooked! Oh no!! Does insurance generally cover this surgery, or would I have to pay out of pocket?
I have been having chronic sinus infections, which is why I went to the ENT in the first place. He is the one who told me the septum is deviated. I actually never noticed it was crooked until he said so, and I can kind of see how its crooked if I look up my nose at the cartilage.

I just don’t want to be sick anymore. I was interested in the surgery because it seems like it would help with a lot of the symptoms I’ve been having.
Also the surgery would strictly be a septoplasty I’m not changing anything else about my nose.

Answer
My insurance covered my septoplasty. I’m sure yours will as long as your doctor thinks it’s necessary. I had a bunch of sinus problems that my surgery fixed. I felt like a completely new person afterwards, it’s defiantly worth it. Oh, try sleeping with a humidifier afterwards so your throat doesn’t get too dried out.

Good luck!

Out of pocket dear, unless a physician can convince your insurer that this is medically necessary. The ‘deviated septum’ is the oldest excuse around for cosmetic rhinoplasty.

Yes, if it is a condition that needs correction.
